Millar Road Hawkes Bay

Hawkes Bay, well known for its beautiful wineries and beaches, so how does one, visiting Hawkes Bay, get to appreciate the two together? By staying at Millar Road that’s how. An example of Hawkes Bay’s finest boutique accommodation can be found at Millar Road; set on a vineyard nestled in the Tuki Tuki hills with the most incredible views of farmland and coastline below.

A chilled bottle of Millar Road’s Supernatural Wine awaits your arrival.   This can be enjoyed in any one of the 3 houses, the main Haumoana house or either of the two smaller villas. Even better, head to the gorgeous lap pool and enjoy the water, the views and the poolside bar.

The larger main Haumoana house and the two villas have been built to maximise the views of the ocean, farmland and vineyard.  They display a modern, luxurious and contemporary style whilst, at the same time, indulging in that New Zealand way of open plan, easy, comfortable living.

As you enter your Millar Road villa or Haumoana house you are greeted by the aroma of freshly baked bread, the pleasure of sampling organic eggs, bacon and Hawthorn coffee beans, all local Hawkes Bay products. Millar Road, the epitome of perfection.

Kitchen Splashback

I am looking to update our kitchen splash back in the next year. I think a splash back can dramatically change the look of the whole kitchen. Over the past few weeks I have been saving images to my folder. Below I share with you a few of my favourite.

I am very much digging the hexagon and chevron tiles at the moment as well as being a massive fan of black and white tiles and also an industrial styled concrete splash back. Check out this very cool shop on Etsy with a gorgeous selection of kitchen tiles.

Short post today. A bit under the weather and have a tonne of work and cooking to do for various things.

Mr and Mrs White

I have long been a fan on Mr & Mrs White. I cant actually recall the moment when I first discovered this well known, timeless Australian brand but I have watched this brand go from strength to strength over the past few years and yet they continue to flourish.

Sasha and Nathan White are the clever creative couple behind the name. Nathan, a former boat builder and Sasha with a background in graphic design quickly realised that something was missing in their lives. Therefore, Nathan with a keen eye for detail, turned his hand to furniture making and Sasha found herself meddling with a sewing machine. And so Mr and Mrs White began.

With gorgeous furniture and a mix of linens, Icelandic sheepskins and to die for leather cushions, this is one brand that you must check out.

Mister D Dining

Its no secret that I am a foodie at heart. A little obsessed with cafĂ© and restaurant culture and a lot obsessed with the food and wine industry that we have in New Zealand, especially here in Hawkes Bay. Leading the Hawkes Bay hospo game is the incredible Mister D Dining.

Mister D, a little bit country, a little bit rock n roll with a huge amount of class and the most incredible menu to match. Created by 2 local couples with drive and a vision, Mister D goes about offering fresh local produce in the best way possible with a no fuss attitude. The wine list and coffee is ridiculously good with a huge amount of selection to cater for a diverse range of taste buds. The
flavour obsessed folk of Mister D produce fresh bread, pasta and pastries daily with the famous Mister D custard injected donuts proving a popular choice by all.

So why is it, when so many restaurants fail to succeed, that Mister D are rocking it and proving to be leaders of the pack? The food - to die for, seriously the pulled pork on white polenta with an apple and fennel slaw should not be missed. The atmosphere, a relaxed urban feel, a welcoming yet stylish and sophisticated vibe all in one and the interior design, well what cant I say? Old school stools, massve industrial lights, incredible tiles and  huge shelves stacked full of wine.  One to keep on the radar, as the team at Mister D have a vision with some serious drive going on. Whats not to love?

Industrial Warehouse Styled Wedding

We are right in the middle of wedding season. I cant get enough of weddings actually. I find myself relishing every wedding that I attend and feel very lucky to be there. There is so much work that goes into putting a wedding on. That is why we are lucky to have so many talented people throughout New Zealand to help us out with the finer details.

This gorgeous photo shoot was a collaboration between some of the seriously stylish, incredibly creative girls in the Christchurch wedding industry. The idea was to create a shoot showcasing the talents of each individual. The group got together constructing an industrial warehouse inspired photoshoot to enthuse the budding future brides out there.

The creative talent behind this incredible shoot are stylist Hayley Harding Design, Styling/Flowers Sweetpea Weddings, Photographer, Kate Christie Photography, Stationery Crafted byhilarybarron, Wedding Dresses Mille Feuille Bridal and cakes by Carrie at Hello My Sweet.

Home Tour

A quick post this evening. Busy preparing to start back teaching tomorrow. Yes I am lucky, I started back a week later as I was on holiday with my family last week. Going to be shock to my system getting ready so early in the morning!

I am crushing all over this home. This beauty is the famous Bridge House in Melbourne, recently renovated by architect Stephen Jolson. Not too much explanation is needed here as to why I love it. It just oozes coolness with the use of that wood and those statement black framed windows.

And that kitchen, jeepers that kitchen.... Look at it. To die for right? Oh and if I could own a mirror like the one in the below bathroom I would be very very happy. And another thing, how good do those blossom branches look in there? So simple.

Phew... I set myself a goal to have this published by 9pm and into bed. (That's early for me) I have 9 minutes to spare. Now that is good!

Bedroom bliss

As I type this I'm sitting, wine in hand over looking the beautiful Hawkes Bay. Holiday time for my family and I. Jeepers I'm excited. It's been a busy summer of work for us on the farm hence the reason we have gone away now before I begin back teaching next week.

via
So today's post is inspired from my holiday mode. Although a little difficult with a busy one and two year old running around, a bit of relaxation is what I'm hoping for over the next few days. This spot right here looks the ticket!

Happy hump day.

Green Fingers

I have been spending some precious time with the little people in my life before I go back to school. (I am a teacher in my everyday life) My little people, Frankie and Patch, are very busy little people. In an ideal situation I would like to be sitting on my kitchen stool blogging while looking out the window watching them play. Unfortunately that's not really the case. My busy little people don't like me sitting on the computer. When they are up, it is serious play time. So this wee explanation is a bit of an apology for m absence. You can blame the little precious people in my life.

Todays post is a bit different. Usually I post drool worth interior images, not the case today. Let me explain. We moved into our beautiful home just on a year ago now. We were very lucky as the house had just been done up and we are very happy with. This is where my attention turns to the outdoors. The garden is a very basic blank canvas. The deck is huge and the exterior of the house is a gorgeous black colour. So basically the world is my oyster. I am enjoying very much growing and developing the exterior of our home.

I am a massive fan of white in the garden, I love buxus hedging and I am very keen to create an easy care, tidy, yet eye catching space. It is a big learning curve for me and working out what grows in my soils and what doesn't can be a bit testing at times but very exciting all the same.

Here is to the green fingers in all of us.

Happy Monday.

Annabell Kutucu

I have always adored Annabell Kutucu hence the reason I am head over heels for this newly transformed apartment in Vienna...
